In the fall of 2018, Lucy Q U I N was invited to create a chair for auction at this moving event, an auction to raise funds and awareness for the Oasis Centre for Bereavement and Healing, which helps members of the York Region community navigate their grief journey. Lucy describes her thinking behind “River of Life,” the chair she created and was graciously purchased:

When someone we love passes away, the river of life overflows with sadness and tears. As time passes we somehow learn again to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the brightness of the light, and new branches grow from the darkness. This doesn’t mean we forget; it means that the river of life continues flowing just the way our loved one wished it would, for us to honour their memory. The river of life finds new life and purpose as a branch with fresh buds, ready to blossom with old and new possibilities.
